Before you do another thing, download this list by pressing the mouse within this window, choose "SAVE" from the FILE menu, and save as "TEXT". | ||
| It contains all of the things you will need to do prior to the big day. A time sequence is not included as we don't know how much time you have till your wedding day. Just review the list below and create a schedule that will work for you. If you need help, please feel free to contact us. | ||
| Decide what kind of ceremony and reception you want. Select the time of day you like best, formality and size. Pick your attendants and ask them if they can participate. Decide on the number of guests from both sides and start your guest list. |
| Be sure that both your parents and his parents meet and get to know each other. |
| Decide on and reserve the place you wish to be married. |
| Decide on and reserve the place for the reception. If they have a dining room, decide on a menu or book a caterer. |
| Decide on a clergy or civil official to perform the ceremony. |
| Choose what type of music you want for the ceremony and reception. Book the musicians or arrange for the music with a DJ. |
| Book a photographer and/or a videographer for the wedding and take an engagement photo. Send the photo and announcement to the newspaper. |
| Register for gifts. |
| Shop for your wedding gown, accessories and choose the attendants' attire. If they live far away ask for their sizes. Make sure your groom has selected attire for himself and his attendants. |
| Choose a florist. |
| Give both families a deadline to submit their guest list. |
| Discuss your color scheme with both mothers so they can select their own gowns. Decide on the details of the ceremony. |
| Make appointments for your blood tests. It is a good idea to check your states requirements. |
| Order your wedding rings and engraving. |
| Order the wedding cake. |
| Finalize your guest list. |
| Order the invitations and announcements. |
| Send out the wedding invitations. |
| Reserve any rental equipment you may need for the reception, ie., glasses, tablecloths, napkins, chairs etc. Order any special party favors, matchbooks or ceremony programs. |
| Finalize the ceremony details with the officient and discuss the music with the church, band or DJ. |
| Arrange lodging for all of the out of town guests. Schedule the rehearsal dinner and fittings for you and your attendants. |
| Confirm all reservations and bookings. Finalize the flower arrangements, contact the photographer, arrange for your wedding portrait along with a list of photographs that are a must. (Some brides choose to have the portrait done at the final fitting). |
| Purchase the gifts for each other and for your attendants along with thank you notes. |
| Get your marriage license (be sure to check your states requirements) and begin the necessary paperwork if you're changing your name. |
| Arrange for transportation of the wedding party to and from the reception. |
| Send your wedding announcement and portrait to the newspaper. |
| Call the caterer with the preliminary number of guests, arrange seating for the reception and write out the place cards. |
| Make an appointment for makeup, hairstyling and manicure. |
| Arrange for your bridesmaids' luncheon. |
| Write your thank-you notes as the gifts arrive, and address and stamp the wedding announcements. These should be given to a friend or family member to be mailed after your wedding. |
| Give the caterer the final number of guests. |
| Make the final confirmation of all professionals and services. |
| Make sure your gown fits and is properly pressed. Be sure your attendants have their attire, that they have tried it on, it fits and is properly pressed. |
